Toddle In is accredited by East Lancashire’s Oral Health Promotion Department in its Smile for Life Training and employs the Smile for Life philosophies. The initiative includes practises such as encouraging the consumption of milk and/or water at mealtimes, avoiding juices, cordials and fizzy drinks. The provision of healthy, sugar-free snacks as alternatives to those containing different forms of sugar and the correct use of dummies, bottles and feeding cups to maximise good oral health are also used. All children are provided with a toothbrush and are encouraged to clean their teeth daily after lunch and staff are on hand to demonstrate good brushing techniques.
